ISO 22000 is an International Standard that defines the requirements of a Food Safety Management System covering all organizations in the food chain from “farm to fork”.
This means that controls are to be exercised not only in the processing plant, but also it covers wide range of people associated with the plant, including the safety of all items coming into direct or indirect contact with the contents of various types of packs offered by the plant.
Internal/external communication is very vital to inculcate not only quality culture but also safety aspects to be intertwined at every step or level such that no stone is unturned to ensure food safety of all sorts to consumers. Along with quality management, safety management has also to be considered, fully.
The standard combines generally recognized key elements to ensure food safety along the food chain, including:
- Interactive communication
- System management
- Control of food safety hazards through pre-requisite programs and HACCP
- Plans
- Continual improvement and updating of the food safety management system
Whom is it relevant to?
